For days, weeks, I have been vexed and deeply troubled by AI and technology itself. I had read a lengthy article about the ‘virtues’ of AI, and what struck hardest was a simple phrase that said, “AI seems unlimited.”
Holy Fear ran through me, because only God, only the Lord Almighty is unlimited.
The Lord has been on me about idol worship. I asked in prayer for His guidance and wisdom on technology and AI. In return, He asked me,
What do you say it is?
“Much of AI seems foolish, Lord.”
Without a moment of delay He replied:
This is madness, child, for many have been infected.
It is not salvation. Not love, not forgiveness, not life, birth, death, grass, wind, trees nor earth.
It is not love, bird songs, planting and harvesting.
It is not praise and song and love.
It is not ice nor rain nor water.
It is not wheat nor cattle, it is not flesh and blood.
Have you made tools, child, or idols?
The glorious ability I made in you to create does not make things to be worshiped.
I pondered those words, considered, as He has so often commanded me. I had never heard the word madness used with such emphasis, and I prayed, “Lord, give me a confirmation.”
Two days later, in the evening, Judith and I were listening to Eric Metaxas on ElijahStreams. He was discussing his book “Letter to the American Church,” and the upcoming release of the movie made from the book. In his interview and discussion with Steve Shultz, Eric said, “…No matter where you look, you see this kind of madness,” he said. “If the Church does not rise against it to bring God’s eyes into the cultural sphere, then evil wins. And evil does win when the Church steps back. It happened in Germany.”
