Out early walking, heavy rain and wind, soaked at the beach, in the dark

Remembrance of a fantastic dream last night, a crystal-clear, long, winding dream all about … “CA” – “collision avoidance”; although it could have been “Celestial Authority”

Judith and I were traveling somewhere for an award dinner or big event, she was preparing my jacket – or (?) kilt (?) – when I was … summoned, called, or come-to, by a group to help solve a crisis. Someone had hacked the autonomous control system. The navigation control, for all vehicles (?? and people ??), and the value of “CA” – ‘collision avoidance’ – had been changed somehow from 0.95 (good, ultra-safe) to 0.0 (very bad, extremely dangerous, fatal), and nothing was safe to drive.

I had a team of people with me, eager, clean, smart, cool – and we’re asking out loud, ‘How could this have happened?’ 

That “CA” control (variable, value) was almost sacred, untouchable – Who? What?, Why?  And then, how to reset it? They had come to me (this team, this group) because I could read the code. So, we set out, I went with 2 others, driving an electric autonomous or semi-auto vehicle – that had to be driven in manual (!!) because of the “CA” thing – the younger ones had never even driven in manual

I drove out of the city and into the country, swerving to dodge rocks and people, and winding through roads with farms and sheep. Them turned around in a wide driveway to get to some laboratory building. We could see that somehow the fabric of code had been altered – But How? It was almost impossible to access, so Who could have?

I had to get into a compiler, deep into the code, a labyrinth of false leads, mysterious statements, my team working and reporting on all they were finding – meanwhile cars and people were almost at a standstill. Everyone was afraid to even move – hooked to autonomy – frozen in place, scared.

I was full of power and confidence and love for all these great young engineers – beaming, focused, all in-the-groove

Judith was then calling to me, fixing my jacket, asking “Are you ready?’

We found the “CA” variable and reset it, threw the main switch – you could hear the audible hum as things began to run again

I was then setting guards on the CODE – setting a watch
